Some years ago I bought some things called Glisdomes - Teflon-coated disks which you put under furniture so that it slides easily. I can't find them again. Can anyone give me any ideas?

You can buy these in B&Q or you can buy felt pads which I have used in Homebase. These work well and can be used on sofas, tables, tv cabinets etc, and can be cut to size.
