I planted some apple seeds about three months ago and they are now little saplings and thriving quite well.
However, they have a silvery/white powdery substance I can only describe as a mould,I cannot shift it,it is even on the stem,on the worse affected leaves there are now brown spots appearing.
Please help me find something to restore my little trees to healthy ones.

hello, it sounds like woolly aphid. As your trees are so young you will need to help it. Suggest gentle hosing off.
The brown spots aren't anything to worry about, just make sure your young trees are well fed for next year to give them strength.
Hi, Re mould,
The white/silvery, powdery substance would seem to indicate 'Powdery mildew', spray with benlate and repeat a week later.

The brown spots you describe sounds like 'leaf spot' which is also a fungal desease, if it persists it can be treated with a fungicide containing copper or 'Dithane 945 but any badly affected leaves are best removed. Good Luck. Tbird+

Thanks Tbird, have you any idea where I can get hold of said chemicals?
Hi again bubblem8,
You should be able to find the products at a garden centre which carry a good selection of garden chemicals and organic alternatives ets.

Check the lables carefully before choosing. Look for handy ready to use sprays if you dont need much.

'Bordeaux Mixture' is equally as good as 'Chestnut Compound'

If 'Benlate is not available, look for 'Fungus Fighter' or 'Fungus Cleare' . All the best.
