Have you or a close member of your family ever been a victim of a crime?

How did you deal with it?

Does it still affect you?

I was thinking earlier about the time our house got burgled and i got a very precious ring stolen. My late dad had given it to me about 3 months before his death! It wasnt worth a lot, maybe twenty or thirty quid but to me it was worth all the money in the world!

That was over 20 years ago now but it still hurts if i think about it. :-)

well Doc, that wasn't really what i was asking was it????

Rev, i don't wanna know! :-)
I was burgled earlier this year, it hasn't affected me much apart from having a permanent rage inside me knowing that they had the nerve to come into my property and steal from me, the police also got my back up because they closed the case the day after and seemed to be of the conclusion that since I had insurance then I'd be ok!!

They took a bracelet that my godmother bought me for my 21st so I know how upsetting that is, it's not worth anything to anyone else, I really hope the scum that did it is lying dead from a drug overdose that my items bought!!!

I wish I could've caught the tw@t in my house, I'd probably be doing time right now but it'd make me feel better!!
You do lol

Dont you know the Midland pub just outside the city centre lol
Have had threats to kill aimed at me on here.

Have had various cars scratched and a VW Golf stolen when I was very young.

Never been burgled, touch wood, nowt worth taking!!!!!
I lived in Gran Canaria 2 1/2 years ago, witnessed something I shouldn't have and had to leave pronto. Still pi33es me off, left everything apart from my clothes.
Yes, I know what you mean. I was burgled about 15 years ago and the only thing they took was my jewellery box. Now, I use the term loosely because it was full of things like, a pebble from a beach, the wrist bands off my babies when they were born, first teeth, lock of hair etc. The jewellery was all crap, but they still took everything. I spent weeks looking in every hedgerow I passed incase they had thrown stuff aside - but no luck. I agree with you it still hurts years later.

katie, i know exactly how you feel! Scum bags!

Rev, not sure i do to be honest. i don't tend to frequent pubs me being a tea totaller ;-) LOL (believe that and you'll believe anything )
We went on holiday and got back late , unloaded the car.
9am next day a neighbour knocked on the door as some one had taken the windscreen out of the car (left it on the roof ) stole the radio and bits of value and some coins . The insurance paid for the screen and radio . The car was never the same , as it was violated , so it was sold . A bit different to you ,but it did affect our lives as we then worried about being burgled , and moved house . When we moved we had the whole place wired with security lights , (not a good idea with 2 cats!!) to give peace of mind ,

I used to drink in Sumo, Hogans, down that Western Boulevard bit lol
My mum and dads house got burgled just a few months ago. It affected them quite badly as they live abroad,so had noone there really to comfort them, the ba****rds got in and stole the safe, with 3grand cash in, passports, and every piece of important documention that they had collected over 25 years, All my mums jewellry was taken too. They were and still are devastated about it. My mum will now not leave any cash in the house. They dont know if thjey were targeted or it was random, but their house is VERY hard to break into, what with it being abroad, all the windows and doors ect have bars over them, and yet they managed to clime up on to the balcony somehow. with nothing below but a small swimming pool. no idea how they managed it.
someone had their purse nicked at work today, it had to be a member of staff too, which is making the atmos extremely pleasant not to mention the poor girl whose had to cancel all her cards etc etc
When my daughter was around 2 yrs old and we hadnt long moved into our new house after I left her father, I was on the phone to a friend late one night and I heard something outside my living room window, then the line went dead. Luckily I was able to call my brother on my mobile to come round and the line had been cleanly and deliberately cut. I called the police the next morning and also had my line fixed and that was that. Soon after I got a rather nasty letter hand delivered to my house. It was done in the style of a ransom note......all the letters had been cut out of the local freebie paper! I had the same paper and recognised the lettering from the adverts! Anyway, this letter was threatening my life and the details were extremely nasty to say the least. But what really got me, is that they mentioned my little girl too, also threatening her. Again I called the police who were very good to me.....I was a mess! Luckily it had been handled only by myself and whoever was responsible. So they took my prints to clarify mine, leaving just one other set.
The only thing that happened was the police put a trace of some sort on my line so the minute I dialled 999, I wouldnt have to say a word, they would come straight round to me. Which was only a small comfort considering!
I ignored the letter and the threats............and nothing else ever happened. But then I always knew who had done it ;)
