Opening word documents

When I open up a word document no matter how small it takes about 15 secs to open. Is there a quicker way of doing this ? I am using windows 2002 on XP

d ya mean word takes 15 seconds to open when you double click a .doc

or that with word already open it takes 15 seconds?

the first is about right (word+doc)
try opening word ... then close it
then try again ...

any faster?

When I try to open a document already saved it takes a while to open approx 15 secs. I tried what you said but it was still the same. Maybe I am just impatient. Never mind. Thanks for replying

the delay .... or probable cause for delay

is when you open docs by double clicking (without word being open first)

15 seconds is about not bad
