In the fllm,It is said that the regiment was the South Wales Borderers...... I am led to beieve that a proportion of the actual soldiers actually came from the West Midlands. Can someone confirm or not that this was true

In 1879 the regiment that fought at Rorke's Drift was the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot. The 24th Regiment later became the South Wales Borderers in 1881 and in 1969 was amalgamated with The Welch Regiment to form the present Royal Regiment of Wales.

The regimental depot of the 2nd Warwickshire's was based in Brecon, Wales.

Here is the helmet worn by the 24th Foot at Rorke's Drift.

From kempie's link it can be seen that Lt JRM Chard VC had a voodooper. What was a voodooper?
Brum City Library had quite a good Rorke's drift exhibition, but it was not permanent - I wentback for a second look and it had gone
Clearly about the Warwick Regt

I was surprised how historical their views were - rather than having to wade through pages of Post-Imperial Guilt, how bad we were then, and how good we are now !

Sgt Jones VC and I cant remember which one he was, isburied in a pauper's grave - well marked and with flowers - in Philips Park cemetery Manchester

Chard's voodooper was a who not a what. Each officer had a native servant, and Chard's was called voodooper
Thanks. "Chard's native voodooper ...". Voodooper does not appear in any dictionary available to me and it does not Google.
Just to be pedantic - West Midlands as a county didn't exist until quite recently, taking in parts of Staffordshire and Warwickshire. Does anyone have any further info?
Mustafa,
if you scroll down to the bottom where it says "not included in these figures....
