Not sure, but I think it was smouse who gave the answer as COWRE ( which is a shell ).
Val.
I did - not sure it is really spelt like that but it fits
cow for the farm animal
and
Re is the chemical symbol for rhenium

Well, it's an unusual answer, anyway. I've never heard of it myself, but I can't come up with anything more suitable at the mo.

Thanks both.

BJ
cowry or cowrie marine mollusc a mostly tropical family having a glossy brightly marked shell.thats what it says in my book1. any help
Question Author
Well that confirms it's related to the seaside/seashore, certainly. However, it's bit obscure, isn't it? Not like funfair, or donkey ride or pier, for example.

What do others think?

I typed into Google cowre shell, came up with cowre shell necklaces.
well it is a shell and you find shells on the beach myself i will go with it nearst yet ,and smouse does know quite a lot and gives good anwers. i go with smouse
I'd be happie with cowrie which is the common spelling but it just doesnt fit the clue as I read it.
Probably way off the mark
I have put cowrie - on the assu8mption that the i stands for forst i.e. leads. Does that make any sense or not?
maybe
no had a rethink as it submitted
i dont see that has re have to be together for the chemical symbol
and that would only work if it was cowire
mind you what do I know it is new shoots after all
Question Author
"rie" sounds like "re", so perhaps that's good enough.
