yes! put a firewire card in your pc and transfer of dozens of albums can be done in just a few seconds
or you can buy a USB cable of the apple website not as was as firewair but still fast (gotta love the Ipod)
...and then wait 2 yrs for the battery to die and throw the whole thing away!
i would recommend a Creative Zen Touch MP3 player, as a credible alternative to the ipod. The zen has better battery life, and can play WMA's too. Although the 'coolness' of the Apple brand is what is accelerating ipod sales, it's core function (i.e. what the product actually does - aesthetics aside) leaves alot to be desired.
Ipod works with Itunes (amongst others) and acts as a synchronised copy of what ever you have in your itunes. so you do all the opwrk on your pc and just plug in the ipod which gets the read only version, very simple, and its useability and sound quality let alone style outstrip every other mp3 player. don't fret about the battery, its easily replacable by Apple or your self. lasts for 400 charges which doesnt sound much but is a year or two, I actually bought a higher rated battery that lasted longer between charges, cost 50 from ebay and took 10 mins to install.
Easily convert any music to ipod. try this software:
