Evening all,
I would like to become a Paramedic, but do not know any... Short of calling 999, you are my best chance!
What do you love/hate about your job? What do you feel is the most important personal trait to have- and the least useful? How did you get in to it?
Thank you x

So you're thinking of becoming a paramedic?! Well entry into the profession depends on your previous experience (i.e., any healthcare professional work) and your location.

Typically if you have had no experience within the healthcare profession you will be what is known as, or called by many different names - Ambulance Technician, where you basically support the paramedic. After about a year you will then begin your training to become a fully fledged paramedic. If you have some qualifications/experience within the healthcare setting, i.e., a nurse, then you usually miss the years Technician out.

It's a rewarding job, so long as you don't mind blood, vomit, being spat at, abused, attacked, assaulted, working long hours.............. etc.

Have you visited your local ambulance trust website? they'll give you all the info you need, and any vacancies!

Good Luck!
