for seaside hols try cornwall, devon, dorset or somerset.
depends on what you want to do while you are there.

Hi goosing,we always used to go to Weymouth.I can also recall Bournemouth,Margate and Rhyl.I want somewhere with lots to do but also with old traditions such as donkey rides,merry-go rounds and punch & Judy.
I know Blackpool still has donkey rides and there is plenty to do, some might say its a bit tacky, but I like tacky! Or there are places like Scarborough for a more sedate holiday. I guess it really depends on if you have kids and how old they are.

Problem is that a holiday at home will cost as much as a foreign holiday but without the weather.
what about Whitby?
Question Author
Got a daughter who will be 14 when we go.I know it can be expensive but we dont like flying so would rather holiday here. We`ve done Butlins,Pontins going to Centreparcs this year.Scarborough could be a possibility Warpig,we dont tend to go up North so that would make a change.I will google it.
I'd give it a try oop North! You can change your money for sheep and pigs at the border...just remember to pack your flat caps and whippet! We are very friendly people here in the north and some of us even know how to use cutlery.
On a serious note, Scarborough is a bit tacky. Whitby is brilliant (my sis lives there) and it has the donkeys, candyfloss, a great beach, lots to do and is handy for Heartbeat country etc. It's only 30 mins to Flamingoland (zoo/pleasurepark) and Eden Camp (google it) which is a great day out.

Hi Dassie,Weston is the closest seaside town to us(Worcs)so we go there on day trips occasionally.Need somewhere further afield.
i went down to weymouth in April, it was fantastic! they have donkeys on the beach and weymouth beach is fabulous. Youd be hard pushed to beat that one :>)

Skegness or Great Yarmouth
Question Author
We went to Skegness a couple of years ago,to Butlins, didnt like it much.As for Grear Yarmouth,We went last year to a Haven site. The site was awful, said we`d never go to a Haven site again. But,Great Yarmouth itself was really nice, very clean, lots to do,very good crazy golf.
Legend-Blackpool is a possibility.
Thanks guys.
I'm with legend - can't beat Blackpool for a good old fashioned, tacky UK holiday :)
