1. It's not really being 'scrapped', it's just unaffordable for that place. It does leave a bad taste in my mouth, but 'outrage' is a bit far for me.

3. I'm sort of pro-European, but I have to say that essentially re-introducing a document which has allready been turned down seems very silly. Again, 'outrage' doesn't suffice.

No. I'm not sure that we should be having organised "remembrances", though if this event is wanted by the locals I would expect similar parsimony to be applied to all local events and councillors' "fact finding" trips.
