I have never been able to get my head around the 40 weeks pregnant or 9 months as 40 weeks is actually 10 monhts. I am 24 weeks pregnant which leaves 16 weeks left (4 months) so am I 6 months pregnant or only 5 and a bit. Please can someone explain it.

Many thanks

If you think there are only 4 weeks in every month then as there are 52 weeks in a year there should be 13 months! There is only one month (and that only 3 out of 4 years) that has exactly 28 days in it, the other have 30 or 31 days. So I would say that you are 24 weeks pregnant or about 5 and a bit months as 6 months would equate to 26 weeks (half of the 52 weeks in a year).
I think it is something to do with averages and the fact they have to take the date from the first day of your last period when of course you cannot have been pregnant. so in theory you could fall pregnant any time in that month bur they assume you fall on the first day. Therefore you have a month spare. I think!!!

thanks that's a bit clearer. Still doesn't make the time go quicker though :)
