I think No 9 Charybdis 9 letters id Seamonster but that has 10
Am I wrong or is it a mistake on quiz paper

Charybdis could also be described as a Leviathin synonymous with any large sea monster or creature.
Surely, Charybdis was turned into a whirlpool not a sea monster. So "Maelstrom" for 9 letters.

I would go with Phils' answer of Maelstrom ..as this is more "watery" ... having only just realised this is a quiz about watery things !

Yes, various references do vary, but favour sea-monster. However, it's incarnation or danger is by creation of Maelstroms.

I would say that the phrase "between Scylla & Charybdis" takes the latter as a whirlpool.

like smouse i also put whirlpool these quizzes are getting me in a bigger muddle than ever.still cannot get no8 in milk quiz spent last 3hours on that one my brain hurts.think i will got and make some bread take it out on that.
want a clue for the milk one?

th e last word i c ame up with was gurning ,but could not take it any further so i give up on it thanks anyway.
would just like to thank everybody that has helped me with milk quiz but with 7 left to go i am going to call it a day on that one.
