My hamster seems to have a lump behind its ear? I looked it up on the internet and I think it's an abcess (it used to be not that noticeable but know its got yellow!)... I dont think its in pain becuase its still runnig round an its usual self, I want to take it to the vet but i probally will have to pay loads to help my hamster when its got a risk of dieng anyway! I mean it will only cost 6 to replace it! But whats the best thing to do? Im not popping it myself! Is it an abcess or something else?

I'm a little gob-smacked by your question. When you buy an animal to keep as a pet, you should be aware of the costs of said animals up-keep! I find your comment of 'it will only cost 6 to replace it' disgusting and pity any animal that has the mis-fortune to be 'owned' by you. How do you know it isn't in pain? At least have the decency not to buy another disposable pet and put the 6 towards a visit to the vets.
Well said Divegirl. Why on earth do some people have pets!!!
FYI i have just had to take my hamster to the vets (***AS I DID NOT WANT IT SUFFERING***) and he had a little injection and consultation and the whole lot cost 10. Not too bad - only 4 more than replacing it!!!!!!
....and he'll love you all the more for it ! Glad your little furbaby is on the mend.

Got to say I agree with the above comments- what a disgusting thing to say Erin!

I used to keep mice as pets, and they cost 1.00 to buy. One developed a manky ear and in total cost me 25.00 to have it rectified. Did I resent spending this amount on him? Not in the slightest.

Please- take your hamster to the vet.

Sorry....I didn't see the unhappy face after your post. Please don't worry too much as the vet wouldn't carry out any form of procedure on such a small animal if he didn't think he would survive it. I'm just glad you're giving this little one every chance to live a happy life. Let us know how he gets on.
