Hi redcrx, Cor that's awful & they deserve a big kick! I have been to the ecotech - very interesting but very biased I thought , because I now know that output for land based turbines can be as low as 7% capacity, compared with 30%+ for those sited at sea. They should balance the small gains against the damage to the quality of life in areas where they site them! The big problem is that the government has decided that on-shore turbines don't produce as much energy as was thought and so subsidies stop from 2010. After that, most turbines will either be in the high wind areas (like Scotland) or at sea! Good ! But there'll be a mass of applications to site on land before that deadline so the developers can get the big payments before they dry up! Politics (spit!).
Did you know also that not one power station will close as a result of wind power because it is unreliable - the most it does is help during low power periods. In Denmark they've changed their minds about wind power, once they found it was needed IN ADDITION to traditional power stations! Problem is it's about big money, not power or environment!
