I have winter flowering Jasmine. Prune after flowering. I have pruned mine back to the ground, almost and it always grows back, though it may take a while to flower again. Can I suggest taking a cutting (they root quite easily) and keep this in a pot, once you are sure it has rooted and is growing, prune to your hearts content- you can then replace it if all goes tits-up!
