i find it depends on you r haor. They work fantastically for my sis who has very fine thin hair that has a slight wave but for me then dont do the trick at all! I have thick curly hair that i need to straighten and they just seem to pull at my hair. They are to narro was well -i lik echarles worrthington ones - 30 and great - have digital heat adjuster - they work for my sis as well!!
(sorry about the many mistakes - in work and rushing before i'm caught again!!!)

Thanks for the answer - very helpful.
I agree with nannon. Some people (me included) swear by them and can't find anything as good, other people dont rate them!

Also some sets seem to be better than others! The first set I had were fantastic, the next set weren't as good
Being folically challenged myself, I cannot speak personally, but my three daughters who all have thick curly hair have a set each (they do live in separate locations, they are not just greedy!) and they reckon they are better than the cheaper brands they have tried previously.
Hi loggy01
I have the worst curly dry hair you could imagine. I use Wella Prostraight. Only avaiable at Hairdressing Salons they cost forty pounds. Would never use anything else.
OMG, they are THE best thing I have ever bought and totally worth every single penny. I ve had mine for 3 years or so. I wish I had these when i was at school. I can have any hair cut I want and know that i can always recreate the look at home with my ghd's. I dont have thick hair as such, but its fuzzy, wavy and lots of it. run the ghds through it and its not fuzzy, and its soooo shiny.

If I do buy a pair is it best to go for the skinnier/mini ones or the normal sized ones, bearing in mind I have a shortish, graduated bob.
hi loggy!
I have uses GHD hair straighteners for sometimes now and i am very pleased with them.
Pricey to begins with but as soon as switched on the straighteners becomes very hot, there no thermostat.
I got some of the wide GHD'S for long /thick hair and they are fab, sooo worth the money and I wouldnt swap them for anything !
i too have a "pob" and the regulars are fine, somethimes gets a bit tricky if i have it shorter. i would get regulars if i were you
I started a few years ago with Nicky Clarke straighteners which were fine. Then I had my hair permed so gave them to my neice. Then a couple of years ago, I went straight again and bought a pair from Superdrugs. They are slim ceramics and cost about 12 and are fantastic!!
I do love it when my hairdresser curls my hair with GHD's though......something I cant do myself :(
psychick have you seen/tried the new 4th generation ghd's they are rounded (on the back, not the plate), makes curling much easier....apparently :-)
question to missrandom. how much are those new
4th generation ghd?
i think theyre about the same around 90.

i had a pair of ghd's and they broke, so a friend at work told me about "the she mk4" straighteners being sold on ebay and i bought a pair they are fantastic and do the same job as the ghd's only they are half the price!!(they are sold by a company on ebay)
i used to have quite thick hair b4 having children now its not thin but its not as thick, i tend to find if i use ghd's they make my hair look really thin and i dont like the look, they are really good and probably keep your hair straighter for longer than regular straightners but as i wash and straighten my hair evey day anyway that isnt a problem for me.i use morphy richards ones from boots i love them, my hair straightens in 5 minutes lasts untill i wash it (unless the rain hits it) and doesnt look thin but looks really straight and they also curl it,
