Hi folks
I am looking for a hardy climbing plant for my garden. I have just finished decking my patio and have constructed two large planters and require a year round plant to climb up my willow fencing. It is for both asthetic purposes and for privacy from next door neighbours.(ie thick cover and quick growing. Any ideas?

Hi zombie, Evergreen climbers would seem to fit the bill.
The Star jasmine ( Trachelospernum jasminoides) will provide good cover and fragrant jasmin-like flowers.

Another is Clematis armandii which is also evergreen with white fragrant flowers, the variety 'Apple blossom' is a nice one. Both are fairly hardy if you have a sheltered sunny spot that gets plenty of sun and will tollerate tempretures between 5-10 oc (23-14 of)

If it's something more hardy you require, then I'd go for one of the Ivy's (Hedera helix) the brightest of the variegated forms, I think is 'Goldheart' and will cling to any surfice, moderate sun to full shade.
Good Luck Tbird+
Hi Zombie,

How close to the house is the Decking?, because you'll probably get Mice, and possibly Rats nesting under it, they tend to do that,

Lonnie - I just spotted a large mouse running outfrom under our decking which IS close to the house.....I daren't tell my wife-she will go crazy......What would you do to rid and/or prevent mice/rats???
