Bit of help, and confirmation please

A friend of mine has just started work, with a �10,000 pa salary paid every month

Am I right in telling him hes likely to recieve about �800 a month (taking off a bit for NI and Income Tax etc)

He hasnt got any other deductions yet (pension etc)

I would say a bit less than that, in my first job I was paid �9500 plus any overtime (next to nothing) and it was only on a month when I had done a couple of hours overtime that I got over �700

Assuming a normal tax code of 522L on �833.33 per month gross you would pay �74.58 in Income Tax & �44.00 in National Insurance contributions giveing a take-home pay of �715.75 per month
