The Life of Riley by the Lightning Seeds was used in one season - not sure whether it was 2000 or not. You can play a clip of it at www.lightningseeds.com under 'releases'.

I managed to find out for myself - it was 'Crazy World' by Richard Ashcroft. A great tune - sounds even better without the vocals though.
