hi, my brother and i went last year during ramadan and its really not such a big deal; the locals just carry on regardless, fully aware that us tourists will be eating as and when we feel like it. we didnt go to alexandria and i dont know an awful lot about it there, but we did go on a varied tour all over the place and didnt experience any difficulties in getting food anywhere. certain shops or food establishments may be shut during ramadan hours but generally trade continues as normal. we saw a whole town sit down in the street at huge tables when the ramadan hours were over one evening, it was quite amazing! if you havent already been, have a great time
