can premium texts be disabled on a contract mobile phone ?

i have confiscated my sons mobile phone because he keeps using premium texts at about �1-50 a go and I pay the bill !!! Is there any way I can turn these off to make sure he cant use them so he can have his phone back ? Thanks for any help.

not from the actual phone. the network may be able to block them from the number but if it is pay as you go, i can't see them caring enough to do it..
And even if you can block it from the phone then, by definition, you can unblock it. Without labelling you as a techno-phobic old pensioner, your son is likely to be more au fait with the phone settings than you. It's the way of the world with these young kids!
why not get him a pay as you go phone. Then when he runs out of credit you can keep more control over the amount he spends?

thx guys kinda what i suspected. his next phone will be a pay as you go phone but unfortunately i am tied to this one until march next year :-(
If you contact the provider (orange, vodafone etc) they MUST BY LAW give you a normal phone number that you can ring and ask them to stop sending your son text messages. If your son is also under 18(or maybe 16) , then the agreement must be under your name. You can phone up the provider and ask them to block premium texts. He cannot undo this as he will not be authorised to do it.
