What are the dull brownish-black beetle like insects that are decimating my bizzie-lizzies. They are about 1/4" long with a largish body and small head. I tried a bug spray but it had no effect - but the fly spray did!! Can anyone help?

If they move reeeealll slooooow, they are Vine Weevils and must be picked off and stomped on very hard. You'll need to knock out your bizzies and replace the compost to get rid of the larvae that the b@st@rds have laid, otherwise they'll chomp their way through you plants like a plague. Or., you need to buy some nematodes from one of the on-line supliers and water them in to all your precious plants. Vine weevils eat everything, from the roots upwards and usually the only sign you have them is the slooooow moving beetle. You may have guessed from the tone of this post that I have them, and am waging a constant battle with them. They ate my wisteria. Grrrr!
