They don't in my area (Cumbria). Ocassionly, they wear a Royal Mail fleece but when it's sunny they just wear jeans and a t-shirt!
-- answer removed --
i work for royal mail and the reason they do not wear a uniform is that they are agency staff and not employed by royalmail.
they do in lincolnshire
They do in North Yorkshire
My postwoman does not wear a uniform - in fact she does not wear anything at all - and she looks like Jennifer Ellison. Not only that, but she delivers the post to me when I am still in bed........

OPPS sorry - that was just a dream.
We have a very smart uniformed post lady who actually pushes the letters in the box so we don't have soggy mail !!
they do in surrey
as per an earlier answer - they should ALL wear the uniform provided. That's how you know they're your postman.
However, more and more casuals are being used to cover holidays / sickness, and they wear their own clothes.
It's a far from ideal situation.
They do in Birmingham, perhaps putting their uniform on is the reason why the post is always so late. LOL.
