My son has just gone up into a new class in September and they have 2 teachers, one does 2 days and the other does 3.The one that does 2 days is much older(about 50 yrs old) and my son says that she is always shouting at the kids and telling them to "Shut up!" at the top of her voice. He says he doesn't like her.I spoke to another parent yesTerday about this and her daughter has said exactly the same thing - in fact this girl wont even put up her hand in class anymore. So do I speak to the teacher concerned, who may well give my son a hard time over the fact that he has complained to me,do I see the headmistress and say that several children have said the same? I don't want to make things worse for my son.By the way,he is 7 yrs old. TIA.

Think you should try the direct approach first. Most people would respond better to that than if they had been reported to their supervisor before they even knew there was a problem let alone had chance to rectify it
Definitely speak to the head and ask for confidentiality.
Hi Pinkfizz,

Please let us know how you get on!
I can't believe that a teacher would be so rude to such young children.
I remember saying 'shut up' when i was younger & my mum moaned at me, i always remember her saying to me that it's rude & telling me to say 'be quiet please' instead! Lol.
I don't have children myself but i definately think i would have to say something to either the teacher herself or the head if this ever happened to me in future. What great manners she is teaching the kids! & how can she let them go hungry!
My boyfriend has a young daughter & if this ever happened to her i know i would be so angry.
Good luck hun, keep us informed. x

Hi guys - well,I saw the nice, friendly teacher today and apparently several parents had beaten me to is because as soon as I said 'Do you think I could have a word about Mrs L***?' she said she already knew about the shouting problem and had spoken to theteacher in question.who was mortified apparently,as she didn't realise quite how she had been. She has come from a secondary school which means she is used to a bunch of rowdy teenagers - not 7 year olds.,which I thought odd as I thought you trained to teach a specific age - but I could be wrong.

Bottom line is - school is aware and they said that If I have any more concerns then I am to go straight to the headmistress.
good on you PinkFizz I think you did the right thing. I hope all will be better in your lad's class now. x
