I recently bought a Husky beer cooler that holds 48 cans but it doesn't seem to be very cold. Is this normal as its just a cooler or should it get cold like a fridge?

It's just a cooler. Unlike a fridge that uses a compressor, these coolers use a solid state device that works on the 'Peltier effect.' If you pass a small current through a Peltier device in one direction it produces heat. Pass the current the other way, and it cools. The amount of cooling depends on the surrounding temperature, but it's not a lot.
I've got one of these too, mines a "Stella" one.I find it works perfectly, nice cold beers every time.Did you know that there is a temperature controller on the back,i keep mine about half way.Remember if you fill it full of warm beers it will take a bit of time to cool the lot down.
