Hi. Can anyone please suggest a low growing evergreen tree for my front garden? It has to be low growing - up to about 8 feet high as it is going to be planted close to a drive and I am a little worried about the roots lifting it.

Have a look at conifers, there are some very slow growing ones around, google uk sites for them, you'd be surprised at how many there are that would fit your requirements.
What about a mock orange bush. They're evergreen, flower abundantly in May with a lovely smell and if you trim it back after flowering will give another show of flowers in August. There's no risk of roots lifting the drive.
Sorry bookworm, I got my plants mixed up. I'm talking about a Choisiya Ternanta. Apparently, the mock orange is something else. Need to revise my plants in english!!!
Lonicera Nitida 'Baggenson's Gold' is a lovely plant, we had this growing in our front garden and it can be shaped too, we used to cut it into a ball shape. When we came to remove it as we were having a new driveway and landscaping done, it was easily removed and no damage done by roots
