fireplace hearth requirements

Hi, Does anyone know if there are any requirements as to how big a hearth must be? My fireplace is anything but standard size. thanks

Hearths are constructed of concrete to the following dimensions:-
min thickness of 125mm
min 500mm forward of the front face of the opening
min 150mm on each side of the opening
and must extend fully into the fire recess.

I had troubles finding the right size hearth for me fire. Eventually I found this site called English Fireplaces which as fortune would have it was based close to me. The team at English Fireplaces were great on helping me out and spoke in plain English and not gobbeldy gook. I think if you are stuckk on this sort of thing you should consult an expert.

I would have no hesitation in recommending English Fireplaces to anyone.
