Any suggestions as to why the handbrake light remains permanently lit on the dash, even if the handbrake is not on.

Thanks in advance.

Either faulty H/brake switch or brake pads need renewing.
Or possibly Brake fluid level is low!

It sounds a bit strange but I had this problem with my Rover, the light didn't stay on all the time but would come on while driving and really be on most of the time. Anyway my alternator died on me and when that was fixed I never had the handbrake light problem again so I can only assume the 2 were connected.
