My fremontedendron was damaged by the fence when it fell down in high winds. It is now a peculiar shape though still has leaves and flower buds. If I cut it down the trunk which is about 6 feet tall and 6 inches in diameter ,leaving about 3 feet of trunk without side branches, would it grow again? I don't want to lose it/What do you think? Hi there, The fremontodendron usually requires little to no pruning other than removing dead, damaged, deseased or wayward branches and does not respond well to hard pruning, therefore I'd feel inclined to er on the side of caution and try and reshape the tree canopy with some light pruning, (after flowering) if thats possible.

PLEASE NOTE, As you may well know handling the pland can cause skin and eye iritation so Please wear stout gloves and protective gogles.
