You just need paracetamol and lots of calamine lotion once you start to itch! Other than that, there's not a lot you can do until it's gone away.
hi stephen.
i think youhave to go to the docs just so they can put it on file. they will also prob tell you to take piriton. helps with the itch.

feel better soon.
I had chicken pox for the first time in my 30's. I found the best thing to relieve the itching was using bicarbonate of soda. ! teaspoon to a pint of water & splash it on, or you can mix it to a paste & spread over the itchy parts. Calamine or Caladryl didn't help me much. I hope this helps.
no, there's no need to go to the doctor for an itch cure. do what cheekychops said. when i had it did exactly that; mine lasted for a week.

be well and don't scratch ;-)

I got it just after returning from Kenya - doc thought I had a weird tropical diesease until he saw me - once he stopped laughing sent me home with nothing but good advice.

Regular paracetamol - even if you think you don't need it. The high temp you can get with it is vicious.

Plenty of fluids and carbohydrate loaded food if you feel like eating

I found Caladryl lotion brilliant - its oilier than Calamine so does dry to a crust.

Remember the fluid in the spots contain the virus - so you are infectious until all the spots are dry.

Try not to scratch - they will scar (easier said than done)

Give yourself PLENTY of time to get over it. Adults don't throw this off as easy as kids so you may well feel rotten for sometime
