Not a question, just a local news item. At a car boot sale in our area yesterday somebody set a car on fire deliberately. Thing is, there were 2 dogs inside and they were burnt to death. I'm speechless with horror. Did they know dogs were inside, is that why they did it? Why are there such evil people on this earth?

What a horrible though, 2 innocent animals burning to death. I shudder at the thought of it.

I won't go into describing a fitting punishment for such airheads or I'll be banned for life from AB.

Just found out it was a mother dog and her puppy. Police say it's highly unlikely that the arsonists wouldn't have seen the dogs.
In my opinion, who ever did this mindless act should be SHOT, or is that too good for them?
They should be subjected to the same pain that the dogs suffered, It's Murder and nothing less! I feel for the dog owners, I can't imagine how terrible they must be feeling.
I am appalled.

But why on earth do people take their dogs to these things and leave them alone in a car? Even with the windows open a crack it is not a good idea.

The dogs' owner was so distraught she had to be given oxygen and treated for shock. I feel so sorry for her. I agree though Ethel, I wondered why a mum and puppy weren't left at home.

How they must have suffered so sad,you read about these horrible things everyday in the papers, it makes my blood boil I wish we could have some stronger laws for animals and their rights,it just does bare thinking about those poor dogs.
I cannot begin to even think about that incident that happened yesterday. I do hope thy find the people responsible for that cruel mindless act.
I would have probably required more than oxygen had it been my dog.
Like grner said, there ought to be tighter laws in this country concerning the welfare of animals
This is awful!! Were the doggies in the boot? or the back of the car, it seems awful to imagine they were actually in the boot? Why would you take your dogs to a car boot and keep them in the boot? It doesn't account for the mindless idiotic actions of those who set fire to the car. You would have thought someone would have seen what was going on. Although sadly maybe the arson murderers did know the dogs were in there which is why they did it, nothing would surprise me these days sadly. I have always said though unless you need to take your dogs, leave them at home.

I don't know eyeshade, I imagine they were on the back seat. As soon as I hear in our local news what the whole story is, I'll let you all know. It could be something like a long-running dispute between families, I can't think how no-one saw what they were up to with so many people around.

Right then, firstly there was only 1 dog in the car, although of course that's bad enough. It was a lovely black Labrador. The owner was with a friend and it was the friend's car that was set on fire, seems to be a random, wicked act. The owner has not returned home since, she cannot face going back to the house and seeing all the dog's things around. I cannot begin to imagine how she must feel, I had a dog killed on a railway line years ago when I was out walking and she chased a rabbit and I can still remember how hard it was to go back home, where a few hours before we had left to go for a lovely walk, but at least that was a horrible accident, not a deliberate act.
why couldn't they just open the car door? thats what i would of done if it was my dog.
