like a lot of other Abers I use AVG free virus protection you'll find it above link.
just type C.O.M O D.O in goodle, i have used it for ages it is free and provides exellent protection.
AVG isn't that effective (came bottom of a recent published trial i can't remember the name of). AVAST is fairly good. Have a look on www.download.com 's security section. Whatever you do don't pay for it, its a waste of time and money.
i'd like to know on what grounds AVG came last, coz it has worked perfectly for me in the last 2 years
AVG generally wins most trials (Bigeye) so don't know where you got that from

bigeye is ceo of mcafee

The computer boffs (they think) at my place also said it was pump. It may of worked fine, but you may not have exposed yourself to that many risks, also, how do you know there isn't one on your system now.
I have used AVG for 3 years and the best anti virus system I have had so far, it was recommended to me by an English employee of Microsoft
I wouldn't trust just one report, and especially not one from about.com. I read a better (though more technically-enclined) report elsewhere some times back that rated AVG about 3rd. Kaspersky was top. Norton et. al. were near the bottom.
Fair enough, we use sophos at work, the chaps that administer that don't rate AVG. Thats a pretty good qualification in my book.
A lot of people, including myself, hold a very low opinion of pcworld. They try to make you believe that by spending 50 on norten products you're safe. Also the first link didn't show any free AVs
