You will probably find that eating out on the "front" will be about the same as in the UK in a crowded seaside restaurant although the quality and presentation is likely to be better.
If you want to get away from the crowds and have a great gastronomic experience, you won't have to look far. It won't be cheap but will be very good. Have a look here for some ideas:
