Impossible to get a definite answer in pounds and pence - depends on the cycle, the temperature of the water when it goes in to the machine....

But off peak will be two thirds cheaper.

So if it costs 1 on full rate, it is 33p on off peak.
Why don't you buy yourself a cheap automatic timer and plug it into the socket for your washing machine You can get them for about 4 in many of the bigger stores and if you set it to come on when your cheap rate electricity clicks in you won't have to worry about missing out on cheaper power.

Thanks for those answers. We do have a timer for this and the dishwasher but it is not used all the time, especially at weekends when all the washing seems to come at once. Im trying to convince my wife and son to stagger it but they are somewhat derisory about the amount of money that can be saved. As it is I reckon economy 7 saves us about 25 a quarter
