Peugeot 306 is knocking - what could reason be?

I've just bought a car that is in pretty much in A1 condition, I only noticed the other day that there was a knocking sound. It seems to be coming from underneath but I'm not sure if to drivers side or passengers side. I double checked the exhaust wasn't loose but that was ok. The car has full 12 mths MOT and nothing on advisory to say what it might be. Any ideas?

Also the climate/ temp reading for external temp isn't working - is this costly to fix?

i would take it down to your local exhaust shop and say you think there is a knocking problem from the exhaust, they will put it on the ramp and have a good look round it for you, also it sounds like the sensor has gone on the temp reader, get one from a breakers, not that dear.

Thanks, is the sensor easy to replace - as in could I do it myself?
Theres a good chance the knocking sound is on front suspension a part called a drop link common problem on a 306 plenty new ones on E Bay and easy to change by a half decent DIY mechanic.
