Hello guys,

I am looking to buy an array of plants for my garden to spruce it up abit. I am looking for fast growing, colourful plants. somebody suggested a Clemitis plant, but who variety of Clemitis is the fast growing type? I am looking for a climber which will cover a large area of ugly fencing.

Also, i am looking for colourful plants for borders which will come back year after year.

Thank you

Hi muchlovex, Clematis was a good suggestion for your purpose. one of the fastest growers and also very hardy and trouble free is- 'Clematis Montana'
Choose the variety 'Elizabeth' if it's to be grown in full sun.
Good luck Tbird+
Try Montana if it will be south facing - lots of medium sized pale pink flowers which last quite a long time. If you prefer a bigger variety try Nelly Moser.

An extremely quick grower to cover a shed, wall or fence is Russian Vine (Mile-a-minute) which can grow up to 12 fot in one season and produces large sprays of creamy/white flowers.

For your borders consider the many varieties of Hebe. They are perennial, most keep their leaves in the winter and all have sprays of colourful flowers - just when, depends on the variety.
As to colourful plants for a border try a mixture of shrubs, perennial plants (come back year after year - good value) hardy seeds (cheap colour this year but will die at the end of the year but you can collect seeds for next) and bulbs (again good value as they come back year after year)
Heathers, Hebe, Gold Flame, also Peris. All very colourful.
