I have a hp deskjet 940c printer.
When I upload a photo from my digital camera to my p.c. the image looks great on my monitor.
However when I try to print out the photo it always comes out very dark.
I use good quality photo paper but my ink cartridges are of the "refilled and compatible" type from Ink Express.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
p.s. please try and answer in plain English as I do not speak jargon or tech-ish.

I'll do just as you suggest derekpara - thanks a bundle for the lead.
It could be a couple of things. It may be the quality of your refilled cartridges as these can vary enormously. You could try another supplier of HP compatible cartridges, such as http://www.eezytrade.co.uk.

The other possibility is the quality of your actual image. Do you use any color correction software at all?
