Word and Excel are part of Office, and do not usually come bundled with any home pc. The extra cost would be prohibitive.

However, the latest MS Works, which is usually bundled with new pcs, has Word which is exactly the same as Office Word.

If your new computer does not have Office, and you do not want to pay for the software, OpenOffice is a free download that is fully compatible with Office.
As with all PCs, what other software is supplied is entirely down to the PC supplier, but it is very rare to see a machine these days which comes with anything but the bare minimum.

You need to check the specific offer details. Of course, most applications that you already own can be installed on a new PC.

Just as an aside, before purchasing a machine running Vista, you might want to type "Vista" into the AB search box on the left, and check what other ABers are saying about it. Personally, I would rather get a virus :-)

I've read stacks of stuff about vista on here, all the scare mongery, doom and gloom and nearly all of it comes from people who have tried to upgrade from XP on an older machine.
I got a couple of new laptops for my daughters at the weekend with vista on from new and i think it's spot on. ok, if you're a techi or similar, you might be dissapointed. I'm no expert but no novice either and I want one for myself now i've had a play with it.
