Energy output from the GYM....

As I was doing my daily 30mins on the cross trainer today at the Gym, bored as my ipod decided to shut down I let the old grey matter wander a bit and looking around the room at the general amount of sweating going on I wondered if it would be possible to somehow harness all the energy being expended on the aerobic machines. So the question is, if all the gyms in the country where to have their energy output harnessed would it replace a power station? Is this a renewable source?

possibly but it is also a smelly source : )
it would be great if they could run their own machines n everything on the energy being produced, even that would have to make some sort of difference!
It would be great if it could be put to some use. It makes me smile to think years ago people were punished by having them turn tread mills etc and now people PAY to do it!
In the gym that I go to, you partly power the machines yourself.

They arent run by the electricity source any longer, they sit in an "off" or "sleep" mode until you get onto them and start peddling (or whatever), then after about 15 seconds they come on and start functioning properly
Sadly not:
