Im the same as joann i start on my [easy] crosswords then go onto the cryptic but Im still learning and some days find them not too bad others they can do my head in so to speak and when i am given the answers on here still have a problem of how its reached unless explained, but not giving in im still trying

Crofter Thanks for the explanation. I have been doing the Saturday Guardian for a few months now and find it can keep me going off and on for a few days. Maybe if I get to the stage that I can finish it in a day or two I'll branch out to a Sunday crossword. Esmerelda

EV is so difficult that many times I can't even understand the instructions. What makes it so difficult is not only the rather esoteric answers but the fact that you often seem to have to solve the puzzle before entering the answers to get instructions as to how to enter the lights in a special way.
