Its probably a question that has already been asked many a time on here but theres a fair few questions to work through to find any kind of answer.

Can being cold e.g. walking in the snow, cause a cold.

surely there has to the cold virus in the vacinity for the person to actually catch a cold - being merely freezing, even in just your boxers cannot cause cold right?

How has the link come about if its not true and is there much strong evidence to suggest either way?

Hi Marky,
First of all there must be germs or viruses near you or on you. Then your immune system must be at a lowish level for the body to be affected but I think low temperatures may influence the situation but the fact of being in a cold situation does not mean that you will get a cold. Many years ago, in my young days, I was told I would.
The nasal lining has hairs in it which act in waves to transport mucus out, possibly expelling germs from that area.

Tests a few years ago showed that subjects with their feet in cold water had a slower rate of movement in their nasal cavity, which possibly explains why cold bodies are more susceptble to infection.
Basically when we are out fighting the cold weather our bodies are working over board to keep us warm.
That means we are working harder, and if we are not eating right and taking proper care of our selves our immensest then goes down leaving us more prone to catch a virus and not have the back up to fight it off write at the start.

Keep warm, eat healthy and sleep often !!! Take care Marky
