A friend sent me an article for a newsletter that I edit by saving it to CD and posting it to me. When I ran the CD and opened the file it was in a strange form, with lots of yyyyyyyyyy in succession and a small square between each letter of the text and the next. How do I get rid of all this strange code so as to see the text on its own? I work Windows XP and MS Word.

It could possibly have been created in Office instead of Word. If you do not have Office on your computer, you will have to Google to find a way of converting from one to the other. Or ask if your friend can send it again in Word.
