lost sound on my computor

can anyone talk me through how to restore the sound to my comp.
I recently installed a new "logitech" keyboard and mouse which work OK but the sound has gone from the machine.
I don't think the installing of the new keyboard will have caused the problem or will it.
Will not be able to reply till Wed as i have to go out

try start>ctrl panel>sound and audio devices

I bet you'll see it has ticked mute.simply untick and all should be fine.

Mattk is correct but also check that the drop down box is defaulted to the correct device

thanks for the two answers but the first re "mute" is ok as this is the first thing i checked.
Drop down box" What does this mean please??
