When I was at Glasgow Prestwick airport there was a bagpipe player at Arrivals. Is there often one there or was this a one off?

I have some friends arriving there, and it would be nice to welcome them to Glasgow with a piper!

eh, i don't think it's a regular thing i'm afraid. i've been there many times and never seen one... sorry!
I think it is relatively regular and it's a nice way to welcome people to a place that's about 30 miles outside of Glasgow!
I've come into Prestwick a few times (on a morning) but there's been no piper. Why not ask in the airport?

I did email the airport but they haven't replied.

It may be 30 miles outside Glasgow, but a train station at the airport and half price rail fares for Prestwick passengers make for a warm welcome, I think - not to mention the wonderful beach view as you land.
Instead of e-mailing, best bet is to pop into the airport and ask, unless you live quite far away. Give them a ring if this is the case (anyone would do within the airport as they're sure to hear the piper playing!!!)

Thanks. I'm not near enough to pop in, but I got an email back from the airport. They said they often bring in a piper to welcome the foreign visitors off an inaugural flight when a new service has started. They think he charges 75.
