Apparently, this word seems to be cropping up more and more in todays language, Apparently footballers are the worst culprits, although I put this down to them having lower than average IQs and not knowing what words to use until their advisors tell them otherwise .......Apparently. Will people please stop saying it.

It literally drives me crazy.

OK not literally, but everyone else uses that word so apparently I can aswell.
I don't really understand what is wrong with using the word, if it is in context...isn't is just a synonym for 'seemingly'? I can understand why there would be objections to the word 'literally' when it is used incorrectly, but the use of 'apparent' is so loose that surely it would be difficult to fault it. Do footballers really have lower than average IQs?

I literally laughed my head off at your answer Alan!
what about the word 'basically', now that is over used!
It's quite literally metaphorical.
I wish people would stop saying "the". It's like people only know one definite article!
