Subscribe to question

When following up a question we have the option to -
a. Subscribe to question,
b. Report this question,
c. Post an answer.
What is meant by 'subscribe to question' that's any different from posting an answer?

By subscribing to a question you will receive email notification every time an answer is posted.

If you subscribe to a question then you receive email notification every time an answer is submitted for that question.
