IS there any truth in the rumour that 2 coins featuring the Queen wearing a necklace were only produced briefly and therefore worth more than those of her without. When I mention this to people, a lot are of the same belief but I can't seem to get it confirmed or dismissed

I know that when 2 coins first came out one could knock the middle (silver) section out making two pieces. Maybe the coin was changed to combat this and the new version came out without the necklace ? Don't know about the worth of the original coins though.
I reckon this came from the original 2 coins, those without the "silver" centre but even on them the Queen didn't wear a necklace
Apparently no truth in the rumour dismissed as an Urban myth here: http://www.24carat.co.uk/twopoundsrumour.html plus the full history of the 2 coin
Thanks Obo now I know
well, i also knew that the middle "silver" bit vame out of the first 2 coins and they were changed to sort this problem, but i never beleived that the queen wore a necklace untill i actually found one the other day! i am planning to take it to the bank soon and i will let you know if it is actually worth more!
if someone wants to pay 5 for a 2 coin its up to them
