if you buy an auction item on ebay, should the seller leave feedback first for you or should you the buyer be the first to leave feedback for the seller?

Hi ya

if you are happy with the item you have brought then you can leave feedback first as sometimes the seller waits for your feedback so that they know you have got the item with out any problems.
If you are unhappy then do not leave feedback until you have sorted things out.
hope this helps

Cannot see any reason why the seller should hold back from giving feedback.

If payment has been received, on what more can the seller give feedback to the buyer?
Even though payment has been recieved, the buyer might not be happy with the item, it may not arrive, it may not be as described etc.
As a BUYER I will always leave feedback first so that the seller knows I have received the item and am happy with it

As a SELLER I will always leave feedback once my customer has done so. That way I know they have received the item and are happy with it.

If a buyer does not leave me feedback then I will not leave it for them as for all I know they might not have had their item yet. I always state feedback will be left once it is received on a little note sent with all parcels and request that if there are any problems at all, please get in touch so that I can sort them out for the buyer. I also state this on my ME page so everyone who buys from me knows what to expect

The seller's feedback on the buyer should be based on the quality of the latter's transaction.

The buyer should not be judged/rated on whether they have received the item or indeed if it is to their satisfaction.

It is the responsibility of the seller to despatch the item in the condition it is advertised.

The quality of the goods/service is what the buyer should judge the seller on, not the other way round, surely?
Some do it one way, and some the other. If you want to leave feedback first or second thats your decision.

What happens if an item goes missing in the post? Should the seller have left the buyer positive feedback as soon as they posted it and then the buyer leaves the seller negative feedback because they did not receive it? Or should the seller investigate the missing item and get your money back for you? The transaction is not complete until the buyer has received the item and is happy with it.

The way I see it, its a matter of courtesey. If you know your buyer has received the item and they let you know, then that is good manners. If they received it in poor condition or not at all, I want to know so I can sort it out.
