cost of healthy eye certificate?

how much for the above, and should this be done yearly? (cav king charles) my vet would charge �21 for consultation to check heart but they dont do the eye checks.

Seriously, here is a link to the BVA site, which gives full details. You may get it done cheaper if you can find a breed club putting on a testing session, or sometimes at dog shows they have sessions. Weekly dog papers (Our Dogs/Dog World) list forthcoming sessions at shows.
Let me know where/when you want it doing and I will see if I can find one for you. The reason your vet cannot do it is that it has to be done by a specialist opthamologist, who is on a panel selected annually by the BVA.
Depending on what conditions are relevant in your breed, a yearly examination is recommended in most breeds. Some conditions are certified for life though, so only need doing once. Others are present at birth, and do not get any worse, some get worse as the dog gets older. The Kennel Club site gives details of which breeds are susceptible to which conditions.

The are two lists of conditions affecting eyes, Schedule A and Schedule B. Schedule A is for conditions known to be hereditary in certain breeds, and Cavaliers are listed on this for MRD (Multifocal Retinal Dysplasia) and HC (Hereditary Cataract). Schedule B is for conditions believed to be hereditary, but not confirmed. Cavs are on this list for MOD (Multiocular Defects).

Thanks lankeela! sound advice as usual, Oscar will be 14 weeks on friday. Not really sure whens best to have it done, but regardless, it will give me peace of mind.I have been given a number for a mr ellis at Lancashire, but its too far to travel. I live in the north east. Somewhere closer would be better, so if you can be of any help i would really appreiciate it.
