it's just like saying calling someone your "boo"... mami is just a term of endearment for a girl, papi for a guy... they both have a sexual connotation though definitely. it's always when they want to shag the person that they use it haha

Well I'm not sure where you come from, but here in germany thats exactly what children call their parents. AND im quite sure they usually (for the freudians among you) don't want to shag them.
